15. Records the weight and estimated heat content of materials loaded into the incinerator.

16. Operates hand tools and has basic knowledge of pumps, blowers, air filters, electronic scales, and programmable controls.

18. Plans burns including determining priority of burn depending on biological hazard and written protocol.

19. Uses maintenance and repair manuals and blueprints that are pertinent to the incinerator operation.

20. Manages the incinerator areas and decontaminates materials through a steam sterilizer (autoclave) before removal from incinerator areas.

21. Operates in secondary biological containment areas (BSL-2 and BSL-3) as if biological contamination (including the presence of zoonotic agents transmissible to humans) is present under normal operating conditions.

22. Uses various types of personal protective equipment (PPE) and knows how to use PPE for self-protection from zoonotic diseases under research at the center.
