Test, troubleshoot, and repair hydrologic instruments such as satellite data collection platforms (DCPs), electronic data loggers (EDLs) and associated systems (includes the float tape system, shaft encoders, cables, antennas, power supplies, etc.) in the office and in the field. GS-08/09 only

Run or assist with routine levels at gaging stations to establish or check gage datum.

Compute and analyze streamflow or water temperature data using Aquarius or a similar environmental database.
8.
Utilize Aquarius or a similar environmental database to check the quality of records of surface water elevation; evaluate any discrepancies in the water level data, and associated well construction, location, and vertical datum records; apply necessary corrections; and prepare final records for publication. GS-9 only
9.
Review hydrologic information on web site for accuracy and availability.
10.
Perform data entry, editing, and retrieval tasks in the processing of hydrologic data.
11.
Compute surface-water or water temperature records from field data.
12.
Write analyses describing procedures used to compile and compute hydrologic records.
13.
Test and troubleshoot hydrologic instrumentation in the field or office.
14.
Assist in establishing vertical and horizontal datum using equipment such as optical or laser leveling devices.
15.
Construct and disassemble hydrologic or meteorologic monitoring stations and supporting structures.

Make stream discharge measurements.
17.
Retrieve data from data loggers, download data to a computer (PC) database, and ensure data integrity and quality.
18.
Install, program, and troubleshoot Data Collection Platforms (DCPs) such as Design Analysis or Satlink instruments for the transmission of time series data. GS-08/09 only
19.
Measure field water-quality parameters such as pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen concentration in lakes, streams, and/or wells. GS-07/08/09 only
20.
Use a variety of hydroacoustic techniques and instrumentation including Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) to measure discharge in streams, rivers, and other hydrologic environments. GS-09 only
21.
Operate common construction tools such as rotary hammers, battery operated drills, skill saws, drill presses, etc. GS-07/08/09 only
22.
Use a wide variety of construction and fabrication techniques, such as those used in metal working, wood working, concrete working, and electronics.
