0800 Series Group: You must meet the basic requirement for professional engineering positions. Please determine which answer which best describes your education and/or experience. NOTE: If you are qualifying based on a combination of education and experience, both must be sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree includes courses that involve analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses provide the skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work. Therefore, creditable experience should have demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of an engineer. A. Professional engineering degree received from a school of engineering with at least 1 curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology as professional engineering curriculum. B. Professional engineering degree and have completed courses that included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics/chemistry) in at least 5 of the following 7 areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields & circuits; (f) nature & properties of materials & (g) other comparable areas of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics or electronics. C. I possess a combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1. Professional registration or licensure; 2. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration; 3. Specified academic courses involving at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, & engineering sciences & in engineering fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum accredited by ABET; 4. Related curriculum involving the successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology.
