Use a wide variety of network management software and/or hardware tools, sch as network traffic monitors, protocol analyzers, reporting tools. Example include Nagios, XenCenter for Linux, Cisco Network Assistant or equivalents.

Installs, configures, and monitors the performance of geophysical instrumentation (seismic dataloggers, GPS receivers, etc.) in a LAN environment.
12.
Understands installation of, maintenance of, data collection from, and operation of geophysical monitoring networks, arrays, and individual stations.
13.
Manage and support a variety of hardware, software, and network components dedicated to the processing of geophysical data.
14.
Comply with department/agency security policies and follow established protocols to ensure network and data security (e.g. firewall change requests, system or data encryption, anti-virus, etc).
15.
Utilize computer security hardware, software, and protocols in networked environment.

Administer routers and switches.
