1. I meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0482, Research Fish Biologist because I have:

A. A degree with a major study in biology, zoology, or biological oceanography that included at least 30 semester hours in biological and aquatic science and 15 semester hours in the physical and mathematical sciences. This course work included: At least 15 semester hours of preparatory training in zoology beyond introductory biology or zoology courses as invertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, histology, physiology, embryology, advanced vertebrate zoology, genetics, entomology , and parasitology; AND At least 6 semester hours of training applicable to fishery biology in such subjects as fishery biology, ichthyology, limnology, oceanography, algology, planktonology, marine or fresh water ecology, invertebrate ecology, principles of fishery population dynamics, or related course work in the field of fishery biology; AND At least 15 semester hours of training in any combination of two or more of the following: chemistry, physics, mathematics, or statistics.

B. I do not meet the Individual Occupational Requirement for the 0482, Research Fish Biology Series.

2. I meet the Individual Occupational Requirement for the 1529, Mathematical Statistician Series because I have:

A. A degree that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.

B. A combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

C. I do not meet the basic education requirement for the 1529 Mathematical Statistician Series.

3. Select the one statement that best describes the education and/or experience that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of a Research Fish Biologist/Research Mathematical Statistician at the ZP-3 or (GS-11/12) grade level in the Federal service.

A. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-2 or (GS-09) grade level in the Federal service which includes contributing to marine research on stock assessments or fish population dynamics, biology, or ecology; and aiding in population dynamics, statistical, or mathematical analyses or models utilizing computer programming languages (e.g. ADMB, R, SS, C++).

B. I have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

C. I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year, and I have more than one year but less than the required education in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (to compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12). Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (NOTE: you must attach a copy of your transcripts).

D. I have the experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

E. I do not meet any of the requirements as described above.

4. Select the one statement that best describes the experience that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of a Research Fish Biologist/Research Mathematical Statistician at the ZP-4 or (GS-13/14) grade level in the Federal service.

A. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-3 or (GS-12) grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting marine research and statistical analyses on stock assessments or fish population dynamics, biology, or ecology utilizing computer programming languages (e.g. ADMB, R, SS, C++); participating in population dynamics modeling of stock assessments for marine fish populations; and contributing to peer-reviewed publications on fishery science.

B. I do not meet any of the requirements as described above.
