Coordinating and integrating separate phases of each survey project using professional knowledge in adapting and applying field survey methods, techniques, and procedures in the day-to-day operations

Coordinating with other internal offices, Federal agencies, and State, local, or Tribal Governments on land surveying, title claims, and property boundary matters.

Working collaboratively with various Staff Directors, Line Officers, Program Managers, and Program Specialists.

Researching survey records, any pertinent land laws, and relevant case history to properly execute assigned survey projects.

Researching administrative and historical records of federal and non-federal sources to execute assigned survey projects properly

Locating and evaluating existing evidence of prior surveys, determining the location of lost or obliterated corners, and performing all original surveys, resurveys, and subdivision of sections required by a project.

Providing direction and guidance in executing investigations and surveys of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) in accordance with the Public Land Laws, Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA) decisions, and the Manual of Surveying Instructions.

Designing and collecting geodetic data to verify the accuracy and reliability of existing surveys and/or to provide more precise positions for the Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB).

Applying specialized Cadastral survey procedures (i.e., restoration of lost corners).

Conducting reduction and compilation of survey data for graphic presentations

Using survey equipment and related software (i.e., AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Word, etc.) required to conduct original or dependent surveys.

Resolving problems requiring adaptation to existing surveying methodologies, techniques, or procedures.

Responding to inquiries from the public, local governments, and other Federal agencies related to Cadastral surveys, land records, land ownership, and legal research of Federal interest lands.

Providing professional advice on locating and marking special management area boundaries, such as wilderness boundaries, administrative sites, wild and scenic rivers, and research areas.

Participating in land boundary and ownership meetings with Federal Government entities, tribal employees, the general public, congressional staff, and other interested parties.
24.
Preparing field notes of surveys in final form and plats of surveys in near final form from the field returns.
25.
Preparing legal land descriptions of tracts of land for use in conveyance documents.
26.
Preparing professional reports documenting circumstances that support unusual survey decisions.
27.
Preparing draft Special Instructions for survey requests by Federal agencies after research is complete and interpretations have been made of the information collected.
