Ability to respond effectively to power disruptions by energizing redundant power supplies and ensure the safe transfer of power back to the normal supply.

Inspect work performed by contractors to ensure acceptability of work and compliance with codes.

Operate and test circuit breakers, switches, disconnects, etc., to assure of the safe and reliable supply of electrical power.

Ability to safely troubleshoot electrical power supply problems and coordinate appropriate response with all facility operations.

Repair a variety of complete electrical systems such as intercommunication and/or fire alarm systems as well as any parts of the systems.

Ability to use of hand tools and testing equipment required of the trade such as wire cutters, strippers, pullers, benders, drills, soldering irons, screwdrivers, test meters and lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, wattmeters, and ohmmeters.

Perform preventive maintenance inspections.

Ability to make difficult determinations, installations, and repairs including decisions on the types and sizes of conduct, wiring, relays distribution panels, and other electrical devices proper for the work and arrange, install, and repair a variety of complete electrical systems as well as any parts of the systems.

Ability to interpret building plans, blueprints, schematic wiring diagrams and other drawings.

Ability to use formulas to figure currents, voltages, resistance, etc.
