Selective Placement Factors
1. Due to "Patrol" and "Search and Rescue (SAR)" both being identified as "Major Duties" of the Park Ranger (PSAR) position, selectees will have to be in good physical condition and pass the PEB.  Selectees will need to perform backcountry foot patrols over rugged terrain and conduct SAR operations, including litter carryouts and technical rescues, over long distances and rough terrain, both of which constitute arduous duty. 2. As part of their Search and Rescue duties, Park Ranger (PSAR) selectees will often need to render prehospital medical aid to ill and injured persons.  As such, they must be certified as EMTs. (limit characters)
