Eligibilities

I am a disabled veteran who retired from active military service with a disability rating of 30 percent or more; or a disabled veteran rated by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as having a compensable service-connected disability of 30 percent or more; AND my discharge was under conditions other than dishonorable.

I am currently employed by AmeriCorps as a federal employee, serving on a General (permanent) appointment. (You must submit a copy of your final SF-50. The SF-50 should indicate your position occupied and tenure. This does not include service with AmeriCorps programs including VISTA, State and National or NCCC).

I am a current federal employee of AmeriCorps, possessing a current Reduction In Force (RIF) notice, whose position has been abolished from the Office of AmeriCorps State and National, Office of Field Liaison, Office of Grants Management or the Field Financial Management Center.

I am a current AmeriCorps employee who is serving on a General (Permanent) appointment (not term or temporary) or I am a current AmeriCorps employee who meets the requirements of a noncompetitive hiring authority. (You must submit a copy of your final SF-50. The SF-50 should indicate your position occupied and tenure. This does not include service with AmeriCorps programs including VISTA, State and National or NCCC).

I am currently on a permanent excepted service appointment in a position which is equivalent to or greater than the grade/level of this position - OR - I am an employee at a Federal agency which has an interchange agreement with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management OR I am an employee with a federal agency covered under other special appointing authorities or agreements e.g., TSA, U.S. Postal Service, FAA, etc. (You may be eligible to be considered for noncompetitive appointment. Submit a copy of your most recent SF-50 showing your grade, position occupied and tenure).

Former Employees - I am a former federal employee of AmeriCorps. (You must submit a copy of your final SF-50. The SF-50 should indicate your position occupied and tenure. This does not include service with AmeriCorps programs including VISTA, State and National or NCCC).

I qualify for merit promotion based on meeting one of the following conditions: current Federal employee in the competitive service in tenure group 1 or 2; former Federal employee in the competitive service who was in tenure group 1 upon separation or tenure group 2, if the separation occurred less than 3 years ago; current Federal employee in the excepted service of an agency with an Interchange Agreement, in tenure group 1 or 2; or former Federal employee in the excepted service, with tenure equivalent to permanent status in the career/career-conditional appointment system. (Your most recent SF-50 must be submitted with your application).

I qualify for Noncompetitive appointment as a military spouse based on one of the following: relocation with a service-member spouse as a result of permanent change of station (PCS) orders (https://www.fedshirevets.gov/hire/hrp/qaspouse/index.aspx); spouse of service member who incurred a 100% disability because of service member’s active duty service (See and complete the SF-15: https://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf15.pdf) ; or spouse of a service member killed while on active duty (See and complete the SF-15).

Noncompetitive Eligibility - I am currently serving or have previously served (within the last 3 years) in Peace Corps or AmeriCorps VISTA. (You may be eligible to be considered for noncompetitive appointment. Please submit documentation that verifies your service in either of these organizations).

I am currently employed as a Federal civilian on a permanent competitive appointment at the full performance level or higher of this position; or a former federal civilian employee who has held the full performance level or higher of this position on a permanent competitive appointment. (Submit a copy of your most recent SF-50 showing your grade, position occupied and tenure).
12.
I have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities and I have certification from my physician or State Government. (You may be eligible to be considered for noncompetitive appointment. Submit a copy of your documentation of your proof of disability and certification of job readiness).

Recent Graduates: Provides recent graduates with one to two-year developmental experiences in Federal agencies. Applicants must have graduated from a qualifying educational institution or career or technical education program within the previous two years. (Veterans unable to apply due to service obligations have up to six years after degree completion to apply).

Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA) - I am a disabled veteran; or a veteran who served on active duty in the Armed Forces during a war declared by Congress; or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized; or a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the Armed Forces, participated in a military operation for which the Armed Forces Service Medal was awarded; or I have separated from active duty within the past 3 years; AND separated under honorable conditions.
