1. Criminal Investigation Series 1811, Individual Occupational Requirement: Medical Requirement - This position requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, and exposures to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of this position are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to him or herself or others is disqualifying.

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for consideration:
  • If this will be the initial appointment to a covered position, applicant is under age 37 or will be appointed before the last day of the month in which they become age 37; OR
  • Are currently or have previously served in another Federal civilian approved primary/rigorous covered position AND will be able to complete 20 years of covered service at age 57; OR
  • Were over the maximum entry age (MEA) at the time of initial appointment to the covered position, but have an approved MEA waiver. (NOTE: A copy of the waiver will be required at time of appointment.).
