Use backpack electrofishing equipment to sample stream fish populations.

Use fish toxicants to sample fish populations or kill non-native fish species.

Conduct snorkel surveys for freshwater fish and/or mussels in the southeastern United States.

Identify freshwater fish to species level in streams of the southeastern United States.
7.
Use fish anesthetics to weigh and measure total length (TL) of live fish in the field.
8.
Use field water quality meters to measure water quality parameters (e.g. conductivity, discharge).
9.
Repair nets and/or seines used for fisheries sampling
10.
Maintain, repair and calibrate water quality meters, flow meters, mechanical and electronic balances, and safety equipment for use in fisheries operations.
11.
Perform minor electrical repairs including changing switches, electrical plugs, and wiring of electrofishing probes.
12.
Input data into computer database programs such as Microsoft Access.
13.
Collect, download, and organize spatial data using Global Positioning System (GPS) unit.
14.
Follow data management and quality control protocols for each data type to ensure datasheets are accurate and complete, data is entered accurately, and datasheets are scanned and archived.
15.
Hike up to eight miles carrying a backpack of up to 50 pounds.
16.
Hike on and off trail in steep, uneven terrain and changing weather conditions.
17.
Camp for periods of up to five days in remote backcountry areas.
