1. ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE (SCREEN-OUT): Are you able to perform the duties of Utility Systems Operator Supervisor with the ability to lead and supervise? Experience includes: Plan use of subordinate workers equipment, facilities, materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by the Central Plant Manager and/or Assistant Chief, Engineering Service; Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects within the Central Plant; Redirect individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work, such as equipment failures and/or utility failures within the Central Plant and the main hospital; Inform the Central Plant Manager of the need to revise work schedules and other resources essential to Plant Operations; Provide information and advice to the Central Plant Manager and Assistant Chief, Engineering Service on feasibility of work assignments as scheduled, budget estimates, and workload data to assist in developing or reviewing proposed long-range schedules and work requirements, and may participate with superiors in planning conferences and meetings; Plan and develop procedures to follow in case of emergencies (for all utility systems); Investigate work-related problems such as excessive cost or low productivity and determine the root cause; Assign work to individuals and provide technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes; Observe work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassign personnel within group supervised, and coordinate work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work in progress to meet schedules; Determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment, set performance standards, and make formal appraisals of subordinate work performance; Initiate recommendation for promotion or reassignment of subordinates; Responsible to ensure all safety devices are working properly and are not bypassed. 10. Operate Cogeneration Plant: 4.6 Mega Watt Natural Gas fired generator and a 15000 pound per hour heat recovery boiler, High voltage switchgear and Utility synchronizing switch gear. Respond to Utility and in house power outages.

11. Operate Emergency Electrical Power Generators, Automatic transfer switches, paralleling and load shed switchgear.

12. Operate Boiler Plant: Two High Pressure Natural Gas fired 700 horsepower fire tube and one High Pressure 25,000 pound per hour water tube heat recovery boilers and pollution control system.

13. Operate Chiller Plant: Three 1200 ton centrifugal and one 500 ton absorption chillers and associated cooling towers for space cooling, electronic controls and variable speed drives.
