A. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex small craft operator duties. I am skilled in operating a gasoline or diesel propelled vessel less than 65 feet in length in areas with large amounts of water-borne traffic; explain and enforce safety regulations to all on-board personnel; maintain boat in good operating condition to include splicing, renewing, and caring for lines and fenders; and perform boat maintenance and recommend repairs and overhauls required. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

B. I have the ability to perform the full range of small craft operator duties. I am skilled in operating a gasoline or diesel propelled vessel less than 65 feet in length in areas with large amounts of water-borne traffic; explain and enforce safety regulations to all on-board personnel; maintain boat in good operating condition to include splicing, renewing, and caring for lines and fenders; and perform boat maintenance and recommend repairs and overhauls required. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

C. I have the ability to perform common small craft operator duties. I can operate a gasoline or diesel propelled vessel less than 65 feet in length in areas with large amounts of water-borne traffic; explain and enforce safety regulations to all on-board personnel; maintain boat in good operating condition to include splicing, renewing, and caring for lines and fenders; and perform boat maintenance and recommend repairs and overhauls required. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

D. I have the ability to perform simple small craft operator duties or I have received training on basic small craft operator duties.

E. I do not possess the abilities described above.
