SCREEN OUT: Indicate your ABILITY TO PERFORM PIPEFITTING, SHEET METAL AND WELDING WORK WITH ONLY NORMAL SUPERVISION (e.g., installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing new and existing high and low pressure piping systems; planning, laying out and developing templates to construct, fabricate, assemble, repair, modify and install sheet metal parts; and using a variety of manual welding processes to join all types of commonly used metals and alloys with not more than regular spot-checks and/or guidance during progress and upon completion).

JOB ELEMENT #1: Indicate your KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT required for the Maintenance Mechanic trade (e.g., equipment associated with high-pressure piping systems, sheet metal work and welding).

JOB ELEMENT #2: Indicate your ABILITY TO APPLY MAINTENANCE MECHANIC TECHNICAL PRACTICES (e.g., using shop mathematics to plan and lay out piping systems; developing templates to construct, assemble and install unconventional metal items with combined shapes and various combinations of features; applying radial and parallel line development principles and difficult triangulation principles; following proper welding techniques for various metals, performing metal-joining through brazing and soldering and using burning and/or flame cutting to shape and separate steel components).

JOB ELEMENT #3: Indicate your ABILITY TO USE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC MEASURING INSTRUMENTS (e.g., rules and compasses; protractors, calipers and height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, chalk lines, plumb bobs, templates, grinders, flangers, hand and power pipe-threaders and cutters, pipe wrenches, blow torches, sewer machines, jetters and hand and power tools, as well as specialized instruments, such as oxygen analyzers and manometers).
