Collaborate with program managers to ensure project leads report status, obligation, and expenditures in a timely manner.
Develop and prepare a variety of correspondence and other documentation, i.e., formal letters, position papers, reports, staff studies, staff summary packages, briefing, charts, bullet background papers.
Lead or participate in development and implementation of mesoscale modeling and advanced data assimilation strategies to effectively validate capabilities of new meteorological modeling technologies.
Perform forecasting duties via ensemble collection, analysis, evaluation, and integration of meteorological data, remote sensing imagery, space weather data, and numerical weather prediction (NWP) output to predict the future state of the terrestrial/space environment for customers' operational decision making
Perform interactive computer techniques to derive weather products from NWP meteorological fields, satellite imagery, and other computer aids.
Provide scientific direction for developing current and/or future meteorological modeling and advanced data assimilation capabilities.
Develop and/or evaluate weather project plans to ensure timely delivery or early identification of potential delays so that any needed project adjustments can be coordinated.
Initiate complex requirement specifications, statements of work, and requests for proposal to ensure R&D requirements are identified correctly and thoroughly.
Lead or participate in professional collaborations to exchange state-of-the-art meteorological model and data assimilation techniques, applications, and capabilities with appropriate meteorological, educational, and/or professional agencies so that model performance is optimized.
