INSTRUCTIONS: Thank you for your interest in the Government Information Specialist(GS-0306-14), position at our agency. Please read all questions carefully and select the best response(s) that align with your education, training, and experience.

I qualify for this position at the GS-14 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1. Managing an organization’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) programs 2. Evaluating FOIA and PA requests to determine whether to release or deny material based on law and policy; 3. Researching and reviewing pertinent materials and case law for appeals of denials to prepare final decisions 4. Consulting with appellants and/or their representatives to attempt to resolve appeals through negotiated information action or partial release 5. Composing official letters of denial citing specific reasons for nondisclosure and those sections of FOIA, PA, and Department regulations that provide the statutory, regulatory, and policy authorities for nondisclosure.
