Basic Requirements
  • Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

  • Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

2. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess the specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in federal service or equivalent public or private sector experience. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • Engaging with customers and stakeholders to ensure their equities are properly considered.
  • Using programming skills, statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data visualization and critical thinking skills--individually and as part of a team--to speed analytical process and analyze data to identify patterns and trends and interpret data to discover solutions and opportunities.
  • Monitoring data science project status (progress and performance) through formal and informal means to evaluate progress toward project objectives.
  • Communicating, both verbally and in writing, complex technical information in a clear, concise manner that is targeted to and meets the needs of both technical and non-technical audiences alike.
