This position requires the incumbent to certify Hazardous Materials on shipping papers, such as dd-Form 2890 DoD Multimodal Dangerous Goods Declaration and requires mandatory training IAW DoD 4500.9-R Defense Transportation Regulation and 49 CFR Hazmat Transportation Regulations for Domestic Shipping and Transporting of Hazardous Materials. Incumbent must obtain Ammo-62 Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials Certification within 6 months of appointment into position and complete the Recertification Training every 2 years. Monitor and report the movement of shipment containers to automated traffic management systems such as the Conus Freight Management (CFM) and the Automated Transportation Control and Movement Document (ATCMD) system.

Perform a variety of automated operations and functions such as database management and spreadsheets.
8.
Utilize on-line resources to maintain and track relevant databases and records.
9.
Utilize office automation systems such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
10.
Determine carrier capability, proper performance standards, and safety of shipments.
11.
Coordinate the loading and unloading of inert and explosive materials for various shipments.
12.
Advise shipping crews on storage of various commodities with different characteristics for shipping.
13.
Make recommendations for the acceptance or denial of charges caused by the detention and demurrage on carrier equipment.
14.
Coordinate between different agencies to verify combinations of two or more transportation modes if required.
15.
Utilize traffic management shipping procedures and principles to rate and classify freight.
16.
Identify different transportation modes and services to ship hazardous and non-hazardous commodities.
17.
Perform research to locate facilities for storage of hazardous and non-hazardous commodities within transportation regulations.
18.
Determine the requirements for special movements of materials based on quantity, urgency, and hazard qualities.
