1. GS-4 MIT-Trainee experience requirements:

Do you have at least 1 year experience comparable to next lower grade demonstrating KSAs & characteristics related to position duties. 6 months of experience may have been in medically related fields: nursing assistant, practical nursing, or similar fields. The other 6 months must have been operating diagnostic & therapeutic MIT equipment. Experience gained operating MIT equipment for animal diagnosis/treatment may be credited at this level.

OR

Have you successfully completed 2 years of education above high school or associate's degree w/ major field study directly related to MIT occupation?

OR

Meet the Grandfathering Provision: All persons employed in VHA in this occupation on March 17, 2006 are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive education and licensure/certification/registration that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation.

2. GS-4 MIT-Trainee Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, KSAs requirements:

Can you demonstrate the GS-4 KSAs:

1) Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
2) Ability to learn the components, operating characteristics, and settings of the equipment to be used.
3) Ability to learn typical patient reactions to the basic procedures involved and ability to recognize signs of distress.
4) Ability to learn the standard positions for the procedure being conducted.
5) Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
