Provide technical and administrative oversight for the effective implementation of the safety, occupational health, emergency management, industrial hygiene, and fire protection programs and serve as the fully delegated authority to these programs.

Ensure compliance with environment of care, life safety, and emergency management standards.

Maintain oversight responsibility for facility occupational safety and health program, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
6.
Assess maintenance and repair and plant operation activities to ensure a safe physical plant.
7.
Review construction projects and inspects completed work for adequacy and compliance.
8.
Assure validity of data collected, accurate documentation of occurrences and data summaries, and maintenance of program information.
9.
Educate, orient, and train medical center personnel on safety and fire protection; supervisors in fire protection, safety, accident prevention and reporting; and leadership on emergency response.
10.
Attend all scheduled meetings of committees, boards, and teams to which assigned and meets all reporting requirements established by the committees, teams, and boards.
11.
Provide recommendations and advice to leadership on policy applicability, project eligibility, program execution, and operational readiness in accordance with all state, local, and federal guidelines.
12.
Deal with frequently changing program requirements and priorities.
13.
Coordinate preparation of inspections by local, state, federal, or agency authorities and inspection teams.
14.
Serve as the authority on regulations and guidelines of accrediting agencies including, but not limited to: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Joint Commission, Office of Emergency Management, Regional Safety and Fire Protection Office, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) etc.
15.
Review major utility systems and associated equipment to maintain compliance with regulations, operating standards, and medical center needs.
16.
Collaborate and coordinate with clinical and administrative services in the evaluation of their short- and long- term goals and objectives.
17.
Possess knowledge and flexibility to frequently changing program requirements and compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Use a personal computer proficiently.

Compose and respond to emails, prepare memorandums, research products and equipment using the internet, and exhibit a level of comfort with entering data or statistics into spreadsheets.
