Investigates the survival factors aspects of, civil aviation accidents and incident investigations in accordance with NTSB procedures, methodology, an techniques.

Uses government computer programs and other government computer programs that deal with accident and incident data and resultant reports to augment survival factors investigations.

Conducts analytical studies and tests on survival factors aspects of investigations which include developing and utilizing effective test plans, e.g. component examinations and dynamic testing.

Applies knowledge and experience in survival factors and occupant protection to identify safety issues and prepare safety recommendations and/or proposals to and with industry to formulate strategies to resolve aviation safety deficiencies.

Leads a team or group of technical experts during investigative activities in survival factors.

Provides counseling, mentoring, advice, guidance, and direction to others engaged in technical work in survival factors.

Guides others in establishing and maintaining knowledge, expertise, and currency, regarding survival factors.
