This position is a Primary Firefighter position and is covered under Special Fire Retirement. In accordance with Public Law 107-27, applicants must not have reached age 37 at the time of appointment, unless proof is provided of prior Federal service in another covered position, or you are a preference eligible veteran. If you are a preference eligible veteran, you MAY be eligible for this position after your 37th birthday.
The duties of this position require arduous and rigorous assignments and therefore must adhere to DOI established age and physical requirements.

Operates front end loaders, back hoes or motor graders and attachments during fire access road and firebreak construction with responsibility for proper fuel removal and grading or slopes, spreading materials and developing fire lanes.

Operates unique/complex types of equipment, such as marshmaster, tracked cargo carrier, masticator.

Operate a variety of tracked and wheeled heavy equipment, such as excavators, skid steers, dozers, dump trucks/trailers, motor-grader, agricultural and articulating tractors with implements, herbicide spraying equipment.
