1. To qualify for the GS-11 Security Specialist (Compliance Officer), applicants must meet one of the following:
  • Experience. At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Records and Information Security Specialist - Uniform Compliance Officer. Qualifying specialized experience includes: Experience in ensuring compliance with law enforcement policies designed to ensure the preservation of the public peace, the protection of life and property, and the prevention of crime; Expert in law enforcement rules, regulations, and guidelines applicable to the medical center security programs and operations; Employs advanced qualitative and quantitative techniques to improve the efficiency of internal administrative and organizational operations; Skilled in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques in implementing policy and program requirements; and Experience developing processes to evaluate program benchmarks and apply strategies to improve program outcomes based on audits and program review findings. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week
  • Education. 
    • Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree,
      • OR,
    • Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree,
      • OR
    • LL.M. in field a directly related to this position being filled (i.e., criminal law, criminal justice, etc.). This education must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college, or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials.   • Combination. Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first 2 years) and specialized experience as described above to meet total experience requirements.
