1. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR):  This series has the following IOR: 

Basic Requirements:  

A.  Degree: natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.....OR, 

B.  Combination of Education and Experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.

2. Specialized Experience GS-13: Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To be creditable, applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.  Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to….the ability to provide expert and comprehensive radiation safety and Laser oversight for the facility; skilled in independently providing technical support and expertise to the Health Care System staff at the Oklahoma City facilities, and any other facility that uses ionizing radiation in the form of radioactive materials or radiation producing machines; knowledgeable in handling the interrelated, emerging, complex, and frequently conflicting nature of Federal, state, and local laws and regulations that govern the management of natural resources and the environment; ability to plan and carry out the work independently and provides expert, comprehensive oversight for the Health Care System's Radiation/Laser safety program; skilled in teaching duties to include  seminars, classes, and demonstrations for the instruction of medical and research personnel in the theory and practical aspects of radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation chemistry, statistics, instrumentation, radiation safety and related subjects; the ability to analyze and prepare personnel radiation exposure records (Dosimetry reports, urine assays, thyroid counts, etc.); and is knowledgeable in the enforcement of compliance of regulations governing the receipt inspection monitoring and recording of incoming shipments of radioactive materials.

8. Responsible for compliance with the regulations governing the receipt inspection monitoring and recording of incoming shipments of radioactive materials (limit characters)
9. Responds promptly to emergencies, and prepares the documentation of personnel, equipment, and facilities in the event of an accident involving radioactive materials (limit characters)

11. Involved in the maintenance of records of radioisotope inventory and waste disposal to assure compliance with the license position limits (limit characters)
12. Provides signs and notices required by the NRC to individual users in the establishment and maintenance of their records which are under the supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer (limit characters)
13. Assists in the implementation of the radiation safety program (limit characters)
14. Routinely assists with research, interpretations, analyzes, and applies Radiation Safety Unit guidelines, policies, regulations etc. (limit characters)
15. Evaluates the background and experience with radioisotopes by prospective users and makes recommendations to the Radiation Safety Officer regarding such qualifications (limit characters)
16. Conducts informal educational sessions with hospital and research personnel individually or in groups on matters of radiation safety, instrumentation, statistics, and dosimetry. (limit characters)
17. Assesses the adequacy of safety equipment and procedures and recommends means of improving these to avoid future incidents (limit characters)
18. Provides consulting services to staff on all aspects of radiation protection (limit characters)
19.
