Do you have the ability to Lead or Supervise the duties of a Engineering Equipment Operator Leader (WL-8)? Related experience includes: Operation of gasoline, diesel or electric powered vehicles and requires knowledge of heavy and light duty machinery, engines, parts and how systems work. The vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, over public roads, and highways. As a working leader, the incumbent of this position will lead, Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, Gardener, and Laborer employees, and compensated work therapy workers in the day-to-day operations for the department at the Medical Center.
2.
Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) B or higher in order to operate on state roads.

Provide instruction from Supervisor to the staff ensuring employees follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Perform work leader duties instructing grounds staff and assist with duties when not leading or operating equipment.

Operate a wide variety of gasoline, diesel or electric powered vehicles requiring knowledge of heavy and light duty machinery, engines, parts and how their systems work (i.e. Trucks, Front End Loaders, Graders, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Zero Turns Mowers, Forklifts and Gators, etc.).

Perform maintenance and safety checks of the vehicles.

Lift and move heavier items frequently exceeding 50 pounds with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes.
9.
Perform maintenance, repair and preventive maintenance inspections of all grounds equipment ensuring in good working condition prior to use.
10.
Inspect completed work for efficiency and adequacy.
11.
Operate and use power tools requiring frequent bending stooping, kneeling, walking and exposure to constant vibrations and jolting caused by movement of equipment over uneven and rough terrain.
12.
Operate under pressure and exercise flexibility when changes occur to meet short turn around times, emergencies and deadlines.
13.
Interpret and is current on operating procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives to address questions.
14.
Plan and lay out work using blueprints, sketches, work orders, and other specifications.
15.
Report hazardous conditions once found.
16.
Interpret instruction and repair manuals related to mobile equipment operation and to assist subordinates with interpretation.

Operate and use equipment carefully and properly according to safety rules and regulation in order to prevent damaging equipment or injury to others.

Operate heavy equipment and power tools requiring moderate to heavy physical effort, frequently lifting and moving heavier items with or without the assistance of other workers or lifting devices.
