1. Do you have the ability to perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic WG-9, without more than normal supervision? Related experience includes: Possessing and utilizing journeyman level experience and comprehensive knowledge and skill of construction techniques used in commercial and healthcare facilities. Accurately laying out and completing carpentry work. Using portable and fixed equipment used in construction and carpentry trades. Possessing skill in selecting and using building materials. Reading blueprints and technical specifications to complete work assignments. Possessing skill in utilizing various painting and finishing techniques to apply or repair finishes. Selecting and using personal protective equipment, as well as ventilation techniques for limiting exposure to harmful chemicals. Utilizing computer skills to maintain work orders and records. Possessing knowledge of various types of locks including cylindrical, mortise, padlocks, combination, electronic, utilizing skill to install or repair various types of locks. Utilizing hand and power tools in performing carpentry work, light construction, masonry, and painting. Possessing and utilizing knowledge and skill, work methods, sequences, and techniques of cement work. Assembling and setting forms to meet precise specifications in accordance with type and shape of structures and material. Possessing a thorough knowledge of the properties and characteristics of materials to determine proper mixtures and setting time. Utilizing skill in determining when to use reinforcement steel or wire, installing and arranging reinforcement material to obtain maximum strength of material. Knowledge of applying coating materials including paint, varnishes, shellacs, and special painting materials with any of the accepted trade devices including brushes, rollers, rollers with extension handles, airless spray guns including pole guns and graining devices designed to give special effects and to ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from drips and runs.
