1. Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.

Are you currently certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)(R)? Applicants must submit a copy.

2. Education: Have you completed a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology? Applicants must submit a copy of transcripts. Unofficial are sufficient.

4. Experience: Do you have at least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-8) directly related to the position that demonstrates the clinical competencies needed to provide services for this specialty area? Additionally, are you able to demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*): *a. Ability to balance the needs of patients and staff while still performing complex scans and procedures; b. Skill to demonstrate appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers; *c. Ability to assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure; d. Knowledge of basic first aid and basic life support practices related to radiography; e. Knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic techniques, intravenous methods and techniques and universal precautions; and f. Knowledge of pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural care of patients. This experience must be fully detailed in your resume.

5. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. In addition to the requirements above, candidates must demonstrate all the following KSAs:
Ability to provide technical oversight and assign personnel and tasks to be accomplished in a manner that assures completion of the workload utilizing the personnel to the greatest advantage thus providing the optimal level of patient care within the workday.
Ability to plan, direct, and distribute work assignments to DRTs at lower grade levels.
Skill in instructing and training DRTs on newly acquired equipment.
Ability to plan and project staffing needs. v. Skill to independently perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations.
