Experience at this level includes tasks common to Boiler Plant Operation; experience or aptitude in applying training and learning to operating in a boiler plant environment. Ability to work safely, identify safety hazards, and to follow safety procedures. Ability or aptitude to trouble shoot, maintain and repair equipment. Operation in all phases of the Boiler Plant Operations (BPO) (water treatment, fuel systems, steam generation, etc.) and interrelationships for efficient and economical generation of steam.

Operate as the emergency call back operator for maintenance type issues during off tour hours of work.

Operate fire tube power boilers fueled by natural gas and fuel oil.
5.
Use necessary tools, equipment and materials required to calibrate, adjust, maintain, and repair boiler, burner safety devices, understand energy flows, and able to utilize a wide range of blueprints, schematics, drawings, and sketches.

Perform maintenance and repairs of moderate complexity on mechanical parts and systems and are required to perform limited basic electrical repairs (lubricates equipment, power cleans water tubes, repairs, or replaces valves, gauges, and pumps, etc.).
7.
Provided maintenance cleaning on fuel guns, lubricating equipment and power cleaning tubes and procedures necessary to perform operational repairs of moderate complexity (repair or replace valves, gauges, water pipes, etc.).
8.
Kneel, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, bend, climb, walk, and stand for long periods on concrete floors, corrugated steel catwalks, confined spaces, to perform the duties of a BPO.
9.
Use appropriate respiratory protective equipment while working in conditions involving adverse elements such as carbon, cement, fire clay, fibrous glass, silica, and soot dust, chemical and organic vapors.
10.
Perform work at heights in excess of thirty feet and inside confined spaces requiring entry and exit through standard manual openings.
11.
Serve as the emergency call back operator for maintenance type issues during off tour hours of work.
12.
Starts, operates, adjust stops, maintains, and performs various operational repairs on multiple fuel power boilers and associated auxiliary equipment.
13.
Maintain a constant observation over the controls, gauges, and charts to make the necessary adjustments for proper fuel and airflow to maintain system pressure.
14.
Responsible for the plant layout including drawings and circuit diagrams of the boilers and auxiliary equipment, locating problems, and determining the appropriate action necessary to maintain adequate steam production.
15.
Utilize a wide range of blueprints, schematics, drawings, and sketches.
16.
Utilize mathematical functions to calculate and correct flows, pressures, and temperatures, calculate equipment and plant performance efficiencies.
