School Preferences
Please identify all the schools where you are interested in being a Substitute. You may select as few or as many schools as you would like. When a Principal identifies a need to hire Substitutes, only qualified and eligible applicants who have expressed interest in that specific school are referred for consideration.

IMPORTANT: When selections are made, an applicant will receive only one job offer for one school which will become their "home school." When needed, Substitutes may be requested to provide coverage at other schools within the commuting area.

Conditions of Employment
This position has requirements which must be met prior to employment, and conditions for continued employment. 1. Substitutes are only needed when there is a Teacher absence, and there is no guarantee of regular or recurring work hours. Temporary appointments with intermittent work schedules do not provide any benefits such as health insurance, life insurance, retirement or leave accrual.

2. This position requires candidates to reside within the local commuting area in which the position is located. The local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the worksite encompassing localities where people live and reasonable can be expected to travel daily to work based on generally held expectations of the local community (5 CFR 575.203).

3. This position is covered by the Dual Compensation Act which prohibits an individual from receiving pay from more than one Federal position for more than an aggregate of forty (40) hours of work in one calendar week.

NOTE: Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) positions are not covered under the Dual Compensation Act. If you have a NAF job, you may still be eligible to work as a Substitute without regards to the 40-hour calendar week limitation.

4. This position requires interaction with children and youth under the age of 18 years of age. Before being placed into this position you must undergo a background investigation with childcare check.

5. This position does not confer Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) coverage or Command Sponsorship. You must be covered by the applicable SOFA in the foreign area through command-sponsored employment or as a dependent of a SOFA-covered sponsor to be eligible for this appointment.

Are you currently employed in a position that provides command sponsorship OR are you a dependent of a SOFA-covered sponsor? If yes, you must submit documentation which verifies your coverage under the applicable SOFA (e.g. PCS Orders, Command Sponsorship Letter, etc.).
