Inspect conditions of range improvement projects to recommend improvements to program/project activities.
5.
Conduct range studies such as condition and trend, utilization, actual use, climatological and/or other studies for allotment evaluation.

Monitor use on ongoing Allotment Management Plans to ensure that turnout, removal and numbers of stock and pasture moves are in compliance with permits.

Collect and maintain actual use records on Allotment Management Plans.
8.
Check projects to ensure no range improvements are constructed without authorization.
9.
Conduct rangeland utilization studies to include collecting and analyzing rangeland monitoring study data.
10.
Report and initiate trespass findings to higher level rangeland management specialist.
11.
Inventory fencing to identify damage and maintain structural integrity.
12.
Utilize allotment compliance inspections to determine authorized/unauthorized use.
13.
Conduct scheduled grazing license compliance checks.
14.
Compile documentation or reports of natural resource conditions (e.g., vegetative monitoring data, actual grazing use, riparian data, etc.)
15.
Idenitfying native plants and recognizing plant communities that are found in the western U.S.
16.
Participating in preplanning surveys and reconnaissance of range and erosion conditions.
17.
Use maps, compasses and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to record and determine locations to safely navigate across difficult terrain.
18.
Read maps to locate features on the ground.
19.
Use Global Position System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and hardware for data collection, transfer and processing.
20.
Use Global Position System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and hardware to conduct activities such as Topographic Map Reading/Interpretation/Navigation, Ranch Management, Fire suppression, Fuels Management, Horsemanship, Off-Highway Vehicles, and Watercraft Operation
