BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Provide individual and group counseling services to students, in the areas of substance abuse counseling to prepare students to cope with realities of their environment and life situations.

Conduct and implement substance abuse tests to meet the needs of students.

Conduct comprehensive substance abuse student assistance programs assessments, interventions, educations workshops, class presentations, campus-wide seminars, aftercare follow-up and treatment placement.
5.
Collects, organizes and interprets data for appraisal purposes in area of substance abuse.
6.
Prepares case summaries, case histories, and case studies for professional use.
7.
Use data to prepare substance abuse tests and measurement, including interpretation.
8.
Interact administratively with students (reinforcing rules, procedures).
9.
Attends and participates in meetings with parents, including home visits; relevant community and school meetings
10.
Advise students of resources available within the school and community for those with substance abuse problems.
11.
Redirect negative behaviors by using positive language, praise and encouragement.
12.
Works closely with the staff, to follow the academic growth of students, recommends conferences to discuss individual student problems experienced with concerned staff members, for the purpose of arriving at solutions to student substance abuse problems.

Conduct in-service training to staff on substance abuse

Conduct individual and group guidance/orientation services for new and re-entering students to orient them to the advantages, requirements, services, and opportunities in area of substance abuse.
