CERTIFICATION: The Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic must possess and maintain a current E.P.A. approved Universal Technician Certification - Type I and Type II. Do you have the required certification? A copy of your current Universal Technician Certification must be submitted with our application and must be legible.

Repairs complex equipment for air conditioning systems.

Provides technical supervision in assisting those inexperienced with the more advanced or complex equipment.
5.
Consulted on difficult problems such as calibration of pneumatic and electrical control systems, balancing of air conditioning systems, transistorized control circuits, etc.

Reads and interprets mechanical blueprints.

Handles frequent changes in instructions relating to installation of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems

Interprets prints and specifications involving circuit diagrams for internal and external connections of electrical equipment, motor controllers, circuit breakers, etc.
9.
Select proper materials such as stainless steel, copper, galvanized, plastic, pot metal, etc., for use in piping liquids or gases under different pressures.

Has worked with tubing and fittings such as copper and galvanized iron, insulation material and excelsior packing.
11.
Maintains and operates glycol run around and preheat systems, test and treat glycol for freeze protection and rust prevention.
12.
Makes progressive and complete check-out of equipment.
13.
Balances air conditioning systems by making mechanical or electrical adjustment to equipment such as electronic and pneumatic controls using schematic drawings and testing equipment.
14.
Determines need for repair or replacement of systems or equipment.
15.
Traces electric circuits for all systems; calibrates pneumatic controls, balances air conditioning systems, computes required BTU's, and modifies and makes substitutions.
16.
Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as recharging of refrigeration and A/C systems with the proper gases, purification of water systems by chemical control of impurities, repairing, adjusting and testing of components such as electric and air controls evaporators, compressors, etc
17.
Directs the work of a crew in the assembly, repair and installation of refrigeration and A/C systems.
18.
Detects even the most obscure and complicated malfunctions in complete, large and otherwise complicated air conditioning systems.
19.
Evaluates performance of all equipment and adequacy of major repairs, test repaired equipment, and make most precise adjustments required to balance the systems.
20.
Resolves difficult problems involved in the operation and detection of malfunctions in the normal variety of plant equipment.
