4. GS-9 Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Experience or Education: Candidates at the GS- 9 level must meet one of the criteria below.

Do you possess the required experience or education for the GS-9 grade level?

Experience: 1 year of creditable experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7). Examples of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-07): Evaluates, performs, interprets, and validates the accuracy and validity of the test results. Demonstrates a clear progression of clinical knowledge and experience by performing testing procedures on a variety of biological specimens using a manual or automated methods.  This includes routine testing, quality control, routine maintenance of instrumentation, and troubleshooting that may require complex procedures and problem solving.  

OR; 

Education: Master's Degree or 2 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education in medical technology or a directly related science.

(2)Knowledge of laboratory quality control and quality assurance principles.

(6)Ability to accurately perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
