A. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex maintenance on a variety of tactical and non-tactical vehicle equipment. I am skilled in performing a full range of repair and service work on tactical, non-tactical and commercial vehicles, material handling equipment, and trailers to include sedans, vans, pick-ups, trucks, buses, jeeps, forklifts, pallet jacks, and multi-wheel drive vehicles, powered by gasoline, diesel, or multi-fuel engines with automatic or manual transmissions; working alone on more complex cleaning and repairing of components and assemblies; following technical manuals and specifications in making repairs and adjustments; and testing, disassembling, cleaning, repairing or replacing parts, reassembling and testing fuel and electrical systems and components. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

B. I have the ability to perform the full range of common and complex maintenance on a variety of tactical and non-tactical vehicle equipment. I am skilled in working alone on complex cleaning and repairing the simpler types of components and assemblies; following technical manuals and specifications in making repairs and adjustments; testing, disassembling, cleaning, repairing or replacing parts, reassembling and testing fuel and electrical systems and component. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

C. I have the ability to perform common maintenance on a variety of tactical and non-tactical vehicle equipment. I can follow technical manuals and specifications in making repairs and adjustments; and test, disassemble, clean, repair or replace parts, reassemble and test fuel and electrical systems and component. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

D. I have the ability to perform simple organizational maintenance on a variety of tactical and non-tactical vehicle equipment or I have received training on the use of basic hand tools.

E. I do not possess the abilities described above.

2. Perform automotive services in shop or on site.

A. I know little or nothing about this.

B. I have had study or training in this.

C. I have used my knowledge or ability, but I have been closely supervised.

D. I have used my knowledge or ability on my own, under normal supervision.

3. Perform operator preventive maintenance checks and services of assigned vehicles.

4. Perform engine tune ups, setting engine timing according to established specifications and technical manuals procedures and adjusting brakes and power steering mechanisms.
