Performs root cause failure analysis of the components under investigation sufficiently to provide a fundamental sequence of failure.

Once the sequence of failure is understood, determine the high-level root cause, and develops solutions to prevent the failure.
13.
Develops corrective actions (e.g. recommendations) to remediate issues.
14.
Knowledge of transportation components and systems in order to develop an appropriate and thorough documentation plan for the laboratory examination.

Executes documentation plan for the laboratory examination, collecting all necessary data.
16.
During laboratory testing planning stage, devises a plan that anticipates any destructive tests and organizes them in the proper sequence.
17.
Lays out and orients accident wreckage pieces in their mind according to their place and location prior to the accident.
18.
Visualizes the forces and conditions that would have been present in order to create the damage present on mechanical or structural parts received in the laboratory.
19.
Reviews the exterior of a component and engineering drawings or other data in order to visualize what the inside of the component may look like.
20.
Organizes and plans projected workloads to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
21.
Independently completes technically complex and disparate projects under extreme pressure to meet short deadlines.
