2. Required In addition to the Individual Occupation Requirement, you may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
  • Plans, develops, evaluates, and present the unit's education program.
  • Develops, designs, and implements training materials, course methods, and training aids for new and existing clerical, administrative, and clinical employees.
  • Designs and/or collects curriculum materials for presentations; ensures appropriateness for audience and setting.
  • Understanding about the competency-based orientation and validation program and activities.
  • Adheres to procedures, policies, methods, and principles involved in teaching including methods of motivating and encouraging participation.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods to reach various learning styles, including hands-on learning.
  • Responsible for IT security and confidentiality to data, systems, network, and accessibility.
  • Utilizes a variety of learning tools and technologies for instruction implementation.
  • Technical knowledge of scheduling, medical software, and general automation equipment for presentation preparation.
  • Utilizes written and spoken communication with a variety of audiences; skill in oral presentation.
  • Evaluates training program and outcomes and implements changes based on evaluations.
  • Evaluates current training material and adapts as needed per target audience and setting.
  • Initiates educational programming which is responsive to changes in the policy/procedures/technology, and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Research reference materials and education programs.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses.OR,

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the bachelor's level as well as specialized experience when combined equals 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level.
