For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements: Select the appropriate answer based on your current level of education and/or experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist, GS-11 position.

Do you have experience identifying and eliminating safety hazards which frequently occur in areas such as: Operating Rooms, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, etc. ?

Do you have experience planning and coordinating activities to ensure that applicable regulations of the NEPA, JCAHO, OSHA, New York State and Suffolk County codes are complied with to provide a safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff?

Do you have experience being responsible for Environmental Testing Programs; such as asbestos, PCB, Nitrous Oxide and other gases/agents to ensure levels are within acceptable limits?

Do you have experience assisting in enforcing established safety regulations, practices and standards to eliminate or control known hazards in specific work operations such as laboratories, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine etc.?

Do you have experience being responsible for all reporting requirements on the Accident Reporting System?

Do you have experience adapting established work methods and work practices to comply with safety code requirements while not hindering the activity?

Do you have knowledge of the standard work practices of trade shops including Carpenter, Electrician, Pipefitting, Painting, Masonry, Sheetmetal and other mechanical tradesman with operations activities such as laundries, kitchen, sewage plant, and boiler plant require specialized expertise to eliminate hazards while not affecting production type service?
