Thank you for your interest in the Laundry Worker position with the Federal government. Decide on the correct identification to be used according to set procedure; set marking machine by pressing keys; stamp mark on laundry ticket and all unmarked laundry items; check number of items on ticket against those submitted; note on the ticket numbers of items that do not agree with ticket; net small items such as socks; keep lot numbers separate; clean and ink marking machine as required; and maintain production counts.

Use sound judgment in accordance with work procedures when handling multiple tasks (e.g., seeing that laundry tickets agree with the number of items in bundles, decide what identification symbols to use, and sorting laundry by the washability of fabrics.

Follow instructions and work with others in a team effort to keep pace with the speed of the flatwork ironer to feed items rapidly without wrinkling or bunching.

Read laundry tickets, do simple counting, alphabetize or put in numerical order to accurately follow procedures to avoid loss of items or mistakes in pricing.

Adhere to established procedures for when and how to report over, shorts, or damaged conditions to supervisor and other persons responsible for such matters.

Inspect washed items, if it's obviously not clean or needs repair, set aside for the supervisor.

Place tickets in bins or hangers in sequence, sort various groups of garments and linens into bins by matching identification symbols, check number of items against those indicated on ticket, and place assembled bundles on conveyor for wrapping.
