Perform a full range of mechanical repairs, including the overhaul, disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of cylinder heads, pistons, rings, rods, shafts, carburetors, air and gas filters, fuel tanks, starter ropes, plugs, points, and the adjustment of components of the electrical, engine block, exhaust and fuel, and hydraulic systems. 7. Perform metal inert gas welding gas metal arc welding and/or metal inert gas. (limit characters)
8. Determine the techniques and machine settings to be used. (limit characters)
9. Maintain dimensional accuracy using precision instruments such as vernier calipers, inside and outside micrometers, surface gauges, height gauges, squares, and dial indicators. (limit characters)
10. Perform tasks associated with material planning, calculations, and verifying of dimensions. (limit characters)
11. Perform major and minor overhauls and repairs following standards established by manufacturers and agency. (limit characters)
12. Follow safety regulations in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and agency policies and/or guidelines, shop safety practices, and hazardous materials handling procedures. (limit characters)
13. Use tools and equipment such as power tools, compression gauges, ammeters and voltmeters, computerized engine analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment to locate faulty parts and tune engines. (limit characters)
14. Perform repair work on equipment used in refurbishment operations in support of various other departments. (limit characters)
15. Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshoot failures to determine the nature and extent of repairs needed. (limit characters)
16. Determine the materials and processes required to complete the repair for the purpose of meeting operational requirements, cost efficiencies, or specialized needs. (limit characters)
